Projected Festival Activities for 2010 -12
Arts Remit:
- Poetry Readings and Competition – Poetry Out Loud Competition (Under 25s and over 25 categories)
- Photography project and exhibition
- Documentary shorts
- Live music
- Story telling
- Dance
- Debates and discussions workshops
- Raise the profile of the LGBT community through engagement with libraries, art forums and other relevant bodies/organisations
Heritage Remit:
- A project examining stories of coming out across the generations in Derbyshire
- Commission a documentary film in which members of the LGBT community document their experiences of LGBT life in Derby and Derbyshire across time
- Conduct a temporal analysis of documents specific to the LGBT community in Derbyshire
- Spatial mapping of the changing geography of the Gay Scene in Derby
- A project exploring the seeming invisibility of Lesbians and Intersex people in LGBT history
- Transgendered and Transsexual histories will also be the subject of specific focus
- Debates, discussions and workshops
- Raise the profile of the LGBT community through engagement with Libraries and other relevant bodies, notably during LGBT History Month.
- Highlight the valuable contribution of older LGBT people to the heritage and the changing LGBT socio-political landscape
Sport Remit:
- A whole day of sporting activity and competition (including a battle re-enactment) as part of the Festival to promote health and well-being
- Sport Coaching and Taster Sessions – sport and well-being activity
- Include sporting activities which engage LGBT people who are disabled and older
The event aims to engage the following:
- LGBT businesses
- LGBT and other Community Groups (Derbyshire LGBT Network, Derbyshire Friend – LKNG, Women Zone, Reach Out and Reflections and Transcend and community partner groups)
- Local and partner agencies
- Local artists and performers
- Sponsors
